Biscuit Topped Meat Loaf Recipe

Ingredients:

½ cup condensed cream of mushroom soup
¾ lb lean ground beef
¼ lb ground sausage
1 slice bread (pantry item), torn into pieces
1 tsp onion salt (pantry item)
3 Tbsp milk (pantry item)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
6 oz refrigerated biscuit dough (3 of the jumbo sized biscuits)

Biscuit Topped Meat Loaf Recipe Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Combine all except biscuit dough with an electric mixer: season with pepper.
  • Shape firmly into a loaf and place in a shallow baking pan.
  • Bake 1 hour.
  • Flatten rolls and arrange crosswise over top and down sides of meat loaf, overlapping.

Sweet Sauce Meat Loaf Recipe

Ingredients:

.75 lb lean ground beef
.3-.5 lb ground sausage
1 large egg (pantry item)
¾ cup French fried onions
¼ cup milk (pantry item)
¼ tsp sage (pantry item)
1 tsp garlic salt (pantry item)
--Sauce--
¼ cup ketchup (pantry item)
½ Tbsp mustard (pantry item)
1 Tbsp vinegar (pantry item)
1 Tbsp brown sugar (pantry item)

Sweet Sauce Meat Loaf Recipe Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees, F.
  • Mix all ingredients with an electric mixer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Put meat into a loaf pan or an 8x8 (shape into a loaf).
  • Mix sauce ingredients and cover top of meat with it.
  • Bake 45-60 minutes until middle is no longer pink.

Garlic Bread and Meat Loaf Recipe Twist

Serves 6

Ingredients:

1 large tomato, diced very fine (7-8 oz)
1 egg (pantry item)
½ tsp chili powder (pantry item)
1 lb lean ground beef
1/4 lb lean ground pork (or sausage)
¾ cup low fat cottage cheese
1 lb loaf garlic bread
--sauce (stir)--
3 Tbsp ketchup (pantry item)
1 tsp mustard (pantry item)

Garlic Bread and Meat Loaf Recipe Twist Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Cut one chunk of garlic bread into fine crumbs (to make about three-fourths cup).
  • Combine bread crumbs and all other ingredients with electric mixer until well blended.
  • Transfer to a loaf pan and spread sauce over top.
  • Bake 1 hour or until meat no longer pink in the middle.
  • Place remaining garlic bread (in foil wrapper) in oven the last 10 minutes.
  • Discard excess fat from meat; slice and serve with warmed garlic bread.
